Mick Flanagan - Singer/Songwriter Irishman from Gort, now residing in
George Town

Eddie Tuleja & The Meander Men - Singer/Songwriter American from
California now residing in Meander and the Meander Men are from, oddly
enough, the Meander Valley Region.

Kate Burke & Ado Barker -Kate & Ado are one half of the brilliant
Australian Irish Trad band, Trouble in the Kitchen, and are one of our guest
acts for the 2008 Festival. Their selection of tunes and songs are brilliant
and accomplished, and their multi-instrumentality inspiring.

Maypole - Children of Westbury Primary School on the Village Green

Aileen Poynter Irish Dance - Aileen Poynter is an Irish Dance teacher
based in Launceston, and is a major contributor to the continuing tradition
of Irish Dance in Tasmania. Her troupe are of a very high standard.

To’rags - The To’Rags make their debut appearance at Westbury, and are a
seasoned group of talented musicians from Tasmania and Scotland.

Peggy Seeger - Ms. Seeger remains one of the most important contributers
to folk music worldwide, and her appearances at the festival should not be
missed. With a career that spans the globe and 50 years, Peggy Seeger is as
poignant a performer as ever.
3.35 - 4.20
Empty Pints - The Empty Pints are a rollicking Irish-influenced band,
complete with drums, fiddle, guitars and mandolin, and are solid and popular
performers at Westbury. These folk will have you tapping in no time, and
are the perfect way to round off our Saturday afternoon show.

Daniel Brauchli & Kate Case - Daniel and Kate are two local singer
musicians that sing songs of Americana and Ireland. Their harmony work is
superb. Daniel is Alaskan, while Kate is Tasmanian.

5.00 5.50 Peggy Seeger Workshop -
A Feminist Perspective of Women in Anglo-American Ballads Peggy will be discussing the portrayal of women in folk and world music, and the effect this has had on the lives of women, the ways in which women are represented and labelled, and the social expectations that arose from this labelling.
6.00 6.50 New Holland Honey Eaters Workshop -
The Irish Diaspora: New Worlds for Old Homes A fascinating presentation through music, drama and slides which explores Irish immigration to America from the early 1700s to the late 1800s, and the effect that it had on America’s traditional folk music.
